Confessions +
What if we are nothing more than a collection of stories we've told ourselves? Each experience, every memory —and how we choose to remember it—shapes our personal mythology. Confessions is a body of work that delves deeper into this process, where confessions are not only reflections of past events, but the reinterpretation of those events as they fit into our evolving stories, exploring the idea that identity is not something we discover, but something we create—layer by layer, memory by memory, confession by confession.
The process is interactive and collaborative; individuals are invited to share their thoughts, memories, and secrets in a ‘confession box’. As participants confide, they become both the subject and inspiration for the artwork that follows. Their confessions are transformed into sketches, notes, and eventually, a final painting or drawing. During this process the confessor’s words are distilled into a symbolic visual language and the artwork is a metaphorical reflection—abstract and anonymous, yet rooted in the raw emotions and stories that were shared. Yet, like our sense of self, these symbols are fluid, often contradictory, and open to interpretation. They point to a truth we can’t fully articulate—a truth that slips through our fingers as soon as we try to grasp it. In Confessions, our exploration of self becomes a journey toward its dissolution. The more we try to define who we are, the more the boundaries between self and other dissolve, ultimately revealing the interconnectedness of all beings.
