02 CARTOGRAPHY COLLAGE
The second stage of my process brings together material from different Confessions, connecting the connections and recurring themes that come up across them.
During each installation (01), I create a body of drawings and monotypes that I turn into collages. These are made with a mix of ink, charcoal and varous papers; I often work with materials specific to the place where the installation has taken place.
Rather than looking at each confession individually, I bring fragments from different conversations together. Layering and rearranging images to find repetitions, overlaps and connections between them. These larger compositions become a way of mapping across different experiences, and often the starting point for paintings and other works.
The first public installation of Confessions took place at Takeover in Beirut in 2024, followed by BATE in Madrid in 2025 and Harlesden High Street in London in 2026. Its next iteration will take place in Downtown Cairo in November 2026, sign up to find out more.
